Well, the
election cycle has come to a close and, consequently, so has the 2008 Chris
Lien for Congress campaign. We here would just like to thank anyone and
everyone who helped over the last year. We had so many awesome, awesome
volunteers, contributors, and supporters throughout Chris’s Congressional run
and we could have never been as successful as we were without you. Whether it
was walking in one of the many parades, attending a meet and greet, putting up
a yard sign or 4x8, or making calls on the day before Election Day, everybody
came together to bring Chris from a small level of name recognition to over
120,000 votes, and that’s something to be proud of.
We genuinely
appreciate everybody’s efforts and contributions and we hope that you will
continue to show your support for your local candidates and your national
candidates in the future. This is a great state full of great people and your
hard work is what turns a hard and arduous Congressional race into a worthwhile
journey for Chris. We just want to thank you for joining us on this
journey.

Folks, have we got some exciting things for you to check out! That’s right, we here at Chris Lien for Congress not only have the video footage from last night’s KELOLAND debate (where Chris had the opportunity to show why he is the right person to bring South Dakota solutions to Washington!), but we also have our NEWEST Chris Lien campaign commercial!
Both will be embedded below. First, we’ll start with the innovative campaign commercial that focuses on our unique billboard design (quite literally, in fact). Go ahead and watch it right here:
Now, we’ll embed the KELO Debate video for you to watch below (and if you’d rather watch it on KELO’s website, click here).
We encourage you to pass along both videos by forwarding the URL to this blog post, found here - http://twurl.nl/fautaj - to as many people as you can so they can see how great a candidate Chris is for the state’s lone U.S. House seat. With only 11 days until Election Day, it’s important to show your friends and family why Chris has the ability to fix a broken Congress with South Dakota solutions and values.
Hope you enjoy the videos, and let me know if you have any questions or comments on either the newest commercial or the debate by e-mailing mike@chrislienforcongress.com.
As KELO online reports, Republican U.S. House candidate Chris Lien will discuss his current congressional campaign on tonight's KELOLAND newscast. The site's text (and video) are listed below:

Hey everybody, the polls for early and absentee voting are now open and ready for your Chris Lien vote, so if you want to show your support for Chris today instead of waiting until November 4th, we encourage you to find all the information you need by clicking here so you can make that early or absentee vote for Republican U.S. House candidate Chris Lien!
Not sure if you’re registered to vote? Click here to see your voter registration status and you will be well on your way to voter registration bliss. If you have any questions about registering to vote or early/absentee voting, please e-mail us at info@chrislienforcongress.com and we will be more than happy to answer your questions more personally.
I look at it this way: the sooner you can get your early vote taken care of, the sooner you can focus your attention and efforts on the Chris Lien for Congress 43 Day Plan. Not sure what I’m talking about? Click here to learn more about the “43 Day Plan.” With your help, we can make sure that the votes keep rolling in for Chris from now until Election Day.
Want to help in other ways? You can sign up to volunteer by clicking here, get information on writing a Letter to the Editor by clicking here, or become a part of The 43 Day Plan by clicking here.
Vote early, vote absentee, or simply vote on Election Day for Chris Lien. People are already voting for Chris, and every single, individual vote will make a difference in helping to bring Chris’s South Dakota solutions to Washington in 2009.
I know by now you’ve probably seen quite a few Chris Lien for Congress yard signs and 4 x 8 highway signs in your communities and along your drive to work. Well, with the success these signs have brought this campaign, we’ve decided to take another signage step and make the jump into some of the biggest signage one can display! Not sure what I mean? Take a look for yourself:
That’s right, we’ve gone all out with full-sized billboards. You will see these billboards in various locations around the state, so be on the lookout for ‘em throughout your region (although, as you can tell, they’re already so eye-catching that you’ll probably notice them whether you're searching for them or you're simply out cruising around).
So, if you see the billboards while you’re running errands or riding your bike down the street, share your thoughts with us and tell us what you think. We think the signs look great so we’d love to hear if you feel the same way. And if you don’t, we’d surely love to know why. Just leave us a comment and fill us in.
Again, with 46 days to go until this campaign is over and done, we'll take all the help we can get. If you want to volunteer, click here. If you’d like some information on writing a letter to the editor, click here. If you simply want to donate to the campaign, click here. We’re happy to have any help or input, so let us know if you want to help by e-mailing us at info@chrislienforcongress.com.
And just for fun, if you see the billboards and you really like them, feel free to honk your horn and let those around you know too (at least until about 10:00 p.m. or so). I know I’ll be honking when I see them!
Folks, in case you hadn’t checked on the Chris Lien for Congress website recently, we’ve updated the Flash intro to the site with a newly-recorded video full of information to share with you, the people of South Dakota.
If you’ve never visited the site before, click here and you’ll be able to watch the video upon your first time through. If you have visited the site before (and I would hope that quite a few of you have by now), you may need to click the “Replay intro” text below Chris’s feet to see the new video message.
We’ll have more coming your way in the department of new media materials, so keep your eyes and ears open for those in the upcoming days. We’re going to be charging ahead at full steam, so come along for the ride and let’s make sure Chris is the voice representing South Dakota in Washington come November.
E-mail us at info@chrislienforcongress.com and share your thoughts with us. Still need a yard sign, a 4 x 8 highway sign, bumper sticker, or Lien Machine t-shirt? Let us know because if you can’t get it at the nearest local Republican Victory Office, we can certainly make sure you get the campaign supplies you need!
That’s right folks, we’ve got Chris Lien yard signs by the stacks waiting to be placed in the yards of your community, so let us know if you have a spot for them and we will be happy to send them your direction! Have a corner lot? Grab two and put one on each side. Live on an island? Grab a few so they can face all directions (we know how hot island property happens to be right now in South Dakota).
In all seriousness, we have plenty of yard signs, and while we’ve broken the typical yard sign mold by throwing most of Chris’s face on the sign itself (or most of his face, as you may have seen on various signs in your community already), it is certainly one that you'll want displayed in your yard if you support someone who will truly represent the state of South Dakota when he gets elected to Congress in November.
To get your hands on one as soon as possible (as I’m sure you want to), stop by the nearest Republican Victory Office in your area and they’ll be there waiting for you. And, if stopping by a Victory Office isn’t an option for you, we can certainly get them into your hands as long as we know where they need to go. If that’s the case, send us your name and location (as well as a phone number and preferred e-mail address) to chris.bohlen@chrislienforcongress.com. Mr. Bohlen is a sign-distribution pro and is anxiously awaiting his continued inbox flood of e-mails from those of you hoping to acquire a Chris Lien yard sign or two. Requests are coming in by the dozens and he has been able to keep up so far, but I think it would be awesome (and pretty funny) if his inbox filled to capacity, so help make it happen by letting him know you want a yard sign!
And don’t forget, we’ve still got a few 4 x 8 highway signs that’ll look fantastic if they are prominently displayed on your property (especially if you want those highway drivers to truly admire your stellar crop fields while they traverse the state). These should also be available at your local Victory Office, but you're welcome to e-mail Chris Bohlen for those as well if you need to do so. Again, these are coming to you at no cost, so be sure to get your hands on a piece of history for free now before Chris wins this race and you’re left bidding for these legendary signs on E-bay.
We’ve got plenty of other supplies in stock for you as well, including bumper stickers, lapel stickers, and Lien Machine t-shirts (with a new order on the way because, yes, once again, the high demand has wiped out our Lien Machine Tee supply). Anything you want, just stop by your local Victory Office and pick it up or ask the Lien Machine crew and we will be happy to send it your way. These last 50+ days are going to be a major push as we get closer and closer to this election, so if you keep doing your part, we’ll keep doing ours as we work to help Chris Lien fix Washington’s problems with South Dakota solutions.
We’re looking forward to seeing and hearing from you soon and we appreciate everything you guys have done for us so far. Let’s make these last two months the strongest two of this campaign!
-Campaign Mike

When I announced that I’d be running for U.S. House back in November, I received many comments from people I’ve known in my life. One such comment that often stood out was, “I can’t wait for the DakotaFest debate.” When asked why, the response was normally, “Well, because it’s traditionally been the kick-off to South Dakota’s congressional campaigns.” With that in mind, I’ve driven by the skeletons of steel and fabric buildings on the south side of I-90 just east of Mitchell so many times over the past few months that I’ve lost count. And, with each passing, I would find myself wondering what it would be like to participate in my first congressional debate. On Wednesday, August 20th, after weeks of preparation, I finally found out.
While driving from Sioux Falls to Mitchell that morning, I once again noticed the area south of I-90 I had viewed so many times. That day, however, it was much more than a few empty buildings in a field. On the contrary, it reminded me of the movie scene where the once-deserted town mirages into this flurry of activity from days gone by (a far different picture than what I’ve been watching since last November). Both fields on either side of the Farm Show area were filling up with vehicles from all over the state. The grounds were packed with vendors, farm equipment and sightseers. And, I must admit, I was a bit nervous as I paid for my wristband and walked through the main gate.
The event was held in a large green and white tent located in the far northwest corner of the grounds. As I walked from the main gate to the tent, I could tell it was going to be a fairly hot and windy day. Some might say a climate very fitting for a political forum. Once there, I noticed a small riser on the opposite end of the stage, behind about 200 folding chairs sitting in the grass. I wondered how far out my family was sitting. They woke up at 3:00 a.m. to drive over from Rapid City to show support (as they always have). I had a few interviews from some press that had shown up early, and then had the chance to get a hug from Julie and Annie before it started.
As you might imagine, the time during the event seemed to take much less than the scheduled hour. Questions came quick on subjects ranging from energy and agriculture to foreign policy and the economy. The questions from the audience were direct and to the point, and I did my best to make sure my answers were too. And during breaks between questions and answers, it meant everything to look out at my family and other supporters in the crowd. The day had come…my very first congressional debate.
Over the past few days, I’ve had many ask me how I thought it went. I tell them, “I think very well.” But for me, it’s not so much how I though it went, as much as it is what I learned. And, for me, I learned a very valuable, yet simple lesson: regardless of the situation, if you stick to what you believe in your heart, the answer will always be there.
And I plan to use the knowledge I gained from the DakotaFest debate as I head forward in this journey. I know that, as I participate in more debates in the coming weeks, I will have the support of my friends, my family, and you, the people of South Dakota to keep me focused on the goal at hand: solving Washington’s problems with South Dakota solutions. I look forward to seeing you at those debates, and I hope that you have an opportunity to enjoy them as much as I know I will.
