If you didn’t catch it in this post welcoming new Grassroots Director and College Campus Coordinator Chris Bohlen, we will be bidding a sad farewell to our beloved Field Director Courtney Heitkamp. Courtney is tasked with returning to college at Valparaiso Thursday and will be unable to continue as strongly with her campaign efforts here in South Dakota.
Not only did Courtney do a great job of generating volunteers for events, finding places for our 4x8 highway signs, and organizing our volunteer information, but she also managed to bring some balance to a very random group of campaign staffers with her attitude and dedication. She was a bright spark in our office and we’re sad to see her go.
Courtney will still be doing her best to help the campaign in any way she can, even from far away in Indiana (talk about commitment), so if you get an e-mail or call from her, don’t be shocked. She’s still as excited as ever to see Chris Lien get elected to Congress and she’ll be doing everything in her power to help. For someone who’s done as much as she has, it’s no surprise that she wants to keep doing as much as possible over the next few months.
So if you get a chance, send Courtney an e-mail and wish her the best. If you had a chance to spend time with her and you enjoyed it (which is quite likely), let her know. She certainly deserves it.
How she kept her sanity, we’ll never know. But we do hope she doesn’t miss us too terribly. We’re excited to have Chris filling her role, but Courtney certainly won’t be replaced on this campaign staff. Thanks for everything you’ve done Courtney, and good luck with school. We’ll see you in November.
